WHAT IS ORGANIC COTTON?

It’s pretty simple: organic cotton is grown organically, meaning the cotton plants are not genetically modified, and no harmful pesticides or fertilizers are used in the process.

What is organic cotton good for? Well, it can be used for anything from clothing and coffee filters to bedding and curtains. Basically, you can use organic cotton instead of regular cotton in just about any instance.

In the comparison of organic cotton vs conventional cotton, organic cotton is better for you and I (and the environment!) for a few big reasons.

Organic cotton is grown in a way that uses methods and materials that lessen the impact on our environment .Big efforts are being made to use growing systems that replenish and maintain soil fertility and build biologically diverse agriculture.

The main benefit of organic materials ,however ,is that the crops aren't treated with pesticides ,insecticides ,herbicides.

Conventionally grown cotton uses more insecticides then any other crop in the world. Its estimated that each year cotton producers use as much as 25% of the world's insecticides and more then 10% of the world's pesticides an incredible amount for one just one crop.

Harmful chemicals in many pesticides cause long term health problems for farmers and factory workers who inhale toxic fumes during the apparel manufacturing process. Chemicals also enter the ecosystem during heavy rains ,poisoning lakes, rivers and waterways . Pesticide residue has been increasingly discovered in foods, farm animals and even breast milk.

These carcinogens are responsible for thousands cancer cases in adults, they are particularly harmful to young children who can develop debilitating neuro development problems,
